Grassroots Baseball® cofounders Jean Fruth and Jeff Idelson have launched See Her Be Her to amplify girls and women’s sports around the globe, from the youngest levels all the way to the pros.

“Women’s sports are growing by leaps and bounds, and every young girl who wants to try a sport needs to know there’s a place for her to play,” said Fruth. “See Her Be Her’s mission is to create opportunities by advancing visibility and equity for girls and women in sports worldwide, celebrating achievements, amplifying voices and inspiring lasting change.”

See Her Be Her’s announcement comes on the heels of a highly successful three-year campaign by Fruth and Idelson to elevate women’s baseball globally, which culminated in the production of a feature-length documentary – directed and produced by Fruth and co-produced by Idelson - and a companion photography book shot by Fruth. Both are titled “See Her Be Her.”

Fruth and Idelson have identified girls and women’s ice hockey as their next narrative focus, under the See Her Be Her banner. The project will share stories, from Mini Mites-to the upstart Professional Women’s Hockey League-to the game’s female pioneers, upon whose shoulders girls and women’s hockey played today was built.

“We are excited to amplify the success stories taking place in girl’s and women’s ice hockey to help grow the sport,” said Idelson. “We saw tangible results in women’s baseball and we are excited to turn our attention to hockey.”

The Grassroots Baseball documentary about the past, present and future of girls and women in baseball on and off the field premiered on the MLB Network between Games 2 & 3 of the 2024 World Series and was an official selection of the San Francisco International Film Festival last the spring.  The movie is streaming on Amazon in the United States, Canada and Japan, and currently touring the country and showing in select Dolby Cinemas in AMC Theatres.

The book was the third produced by Fruth in the Grassroots Baseball series, following the success of 2019’s Grassroots Baseball: Where Legends Begin and Grassroots Baseball: Route 66, which came out in 2022.
